Composite Bonding

What is composite bonding?

Composite bonding is a way of changing the colour and shape of your teeth using a dental adhesive resin which is bonded with a high-intensity curing light. If you have blemishes, unevenness or gaps between your teeth, composite bonding may be a way to give you the smile you have always wanted.

How is it done?

Whether or not composite bonding can be used to perfect your smile will depend on the health of your gums and how damaged your teeth are. Healthy teeth with minor crookedness, chips and blemishes can be fixed with composite bonding; however, extensively damaged teeth may require veneers and ill alignment may require orthodontics.

If you have a desire to whiten your teeth, Dr Chodree may advise that you whiten your teeth before fixing blemishes with composite bonding as the composite shade needs to match the shade of your teeth.

After Care

While composite bonding can fix blemished teeth and give you the smile you have always wanted, it is essential to follow proper oral hygiene and avoid habits that could damage your bonding. Because composite bonding can chip, avoid habits such as biting your fingernails and chewing on pens, ice or other hard objects.
